Windham Lawrence Rotunda best known by his ring name Bray Wyatt was an American professional wrestler. He was born into a wrestling family. His grandfather, father, uncles, and brother all have been wrestlers. He came into this world on May 23, 1987, in Brooksville, Florida, U.S. He was born to the wrestler Mike Rotunda and Blackjack Mulligan, his grandfather. Everyone is familiar with the wrestler Bo Dallar i.e. Taylor, his younger brother.

Education

Wyatt studied at Hernando High School where he won a state wrestling championship at 275 pounds equivalent to 125 kg in 2005. He also played football as a defensive guard. He played at the College of the Sequoias for two seasons and earned second-term All-American honors as a sophomore offensive guard at the California junior college. Wyatt earned a football scholarship to Troy University where he played for two years. However, he later decided to become a professional wrestler so he left Troy just 27 credits short of earning his bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism.

Personal Life

He was married to Samantha from 2012 to 2017. They had two daughters together. He was reportedly in a relationship with WWE announcer Joseann “JoJo” Offerman during this time. Later, he had a son (born May 2019) and a daughter (born May 2020) with Offerman. Wyatt and Offerman were engaged from 2022 until his death in 2023.

Career

Wyatt made his debut in a dark match on the February 5, 2009, episode of Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW), where he performed under the ring names Alex Rotundo and Duke Rotundo. In June 2009, he teamed with his brother Bo Rotundo. From 2010 to 2011, he briefly wrestled on WWE’s main roster as a member of The Nexus under the ring name Husky Harris.

Bray Wyatt has received numerous awards and titles throughout his wrestling career. He was crowned the FCW Florida Tag Team Champion twice and had also won the WWE Universal Championship and the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship. He had been suffering from an undisclosed illness since February. Right after his death, it was revealed that the illness was COVID-19, which had aggravated a pre-existing heart condition. He was hospitalized one week before for a heart issue and was advised to wear a defibrillator, though he was not wearing it at the time of his death.
