The first tweet went out at 3:06 PM PST on March 21st, 2006 from Twitter founder Jack Dorsey to then-student Evan Williams with the message “just setting up my twttr”.

In this paper, I will be analyzing the mission statement of Twitter from a sociological perspective. In order to do so, I will first define some key terms as well as the context of Twitter.

In 2018, there was a lot of change in social media industry with Facebook announcing that it would be eliminating its human workforce and taking over the majority of its responsibilities from AI software that can produce quality content for them.

The Role of Twitter in Social Media Companies Motivation

Twitter is the most popular social media platform in the world. It’s also one of the most important channels for marketing and branding. It has created a lot of opportunities for businesses, brands, and publishers to connect with their audience.

However, this platform is highly engaged with followers – meaning that people are engaged with it more than other social media platforms like Instagram or Facebook. This means that Twitter’s engagement rate is approximately six times higher than its competitors like Instagram and Facebook.

This makes it less likely for companies to use Twitter in their marketing campaigns due to the possibility of having lower ROI or return on investment (ROI) when compared to other platforms like Facebook or Instagram because these companies want to maximize their ROI by using platforms that will help them reach more people around the world.
