Miriam is a proud mother to her daughter Noa, whom she shares with Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Miriam was the first wife of the Israeli prime minister, but she filed for divorce after infidelity allegations. Who is Miriam Haran?

Miriam is a business lady, diplomat, and environmentalist from Israel. She is best known as the first wife of Israel’s longest-serving Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu. Miriam met Netanyahu in the early 1970s while they were both students at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Miriam was born on September 13, 1949, in Israel, although she has never revealed her parents’ details. She graduated from the university in 1972 with a  degree in Chemistry and Physics and moved to the United States, where she pursued her doctoral studies in environmental chemistry. She graduated from Brandeis University in 1978.

Miriam Haran’s Family

Miriam started her family life in 1972 with the current prime minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu. Miriam met Benjamin in 1971 when they were studying at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and they started dating.

Miriam and Netanyahu married in 1972, shortly before Netanyahu relocated to the United States to study at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Miriam joined her husband in 1974 after she completed her undergraduate, and she continued with her master’s degree in the United States.

Miriam Haran became a mother in 1978 when she gave birth to her only child, Noa. Unfortunately, at the same time, Miriam found out that her husband was having an affair with Fleur Cates, a lady he had met at the University library, and she filed for divorce.

The divorce was finalized in 1978, and Netanyahu married Fleur Cates in 1981 after she converted to Judaism. Cates divorced Netanyahu in 1988 after she found out he was having several affairs with other ladies.

Miriam and Netanyahu have remained estranged since their divorce. Miriam has kept a low profile since her divorce, and she has never been married to any man again. She committed her life to her career and hobbies.

Miriam Haran’s Career

Miriam Haran is a lady who has held numerous roles in the private and public sectors. She had many roles in the Israeli government, contributing positively. She was the director general of the Ministry of Environmental Protection from 19993 to 1999. During this time, she formulated environmental policies and represented Israel in international environmental forums.

She held the position of Deputy Head of Human Resources at the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation from 1999 to 2000. From 1996 to 1997, Prime Minister Netanyahu appointed her as the Minister of Science and Technology. Additionally, she was appointed the Minister of Housing and Construction from 19996 to 1999 by Benjamin Netanyahu as part of his cabinet coalition. Additionally, from 1996 to 1999, she was the minister of Consumer affairs.
